A laptop is portable and great to use in class to write notes, but I don't type too much faster than I write.
A P.C. is bigger, but it's more reliable, it can be upgraded, has more memory, and can do lots of more stuff.
A laptop's internet connection may frequently disconnect if it's wireless.
A P.C. is not portable and I may not be able to do homework everywhere I go, but that's why they invented C.D.s and Flash Drives.

What else should I consider? What do you think would be better to buy? Which will help me more in college. Which has more benefits?

I have a laptop and it has done me just fine. I don't personally take it to college with me, but I do see plenty of people doing so. I have even seen some people take them to classes for note-taking.

If your college has plenty of computers on campus, and you have access to them, then you may not need a laptop. My laptop basically just sits on my computer desk and I rarely take it anywhere else. I just use a flash drive for when I need to work on something on the computers at school.

But it all depends on what you plan to do with it, and what your lifestyle will be like. If you will be living in a dorm, a laptop is good just because of the space you save. Those desktops take up lots of space, and in a dorm room, you don't have much space to work with. If I lived in a dorm, I would definitely carry my laptop around instead of just leaving it on my desk. This is because if you've got a roommate, you can't always study in your room, and you need to move to a study lounge or the library.

Even though I don't use my laptop AS a laptop so much, I would still buy a laptop if I were going to buy a new computer again. I just like the idea that if I want to move it, I can.

I have wireless and don't have any problems with disconnects.

i might pass with a working laptop or workstation. specific, you're actually not finding out to purchase it, yet do you extremely wanna make your mom pay $2000 for a working laptop or workstation that does each and every of the comparable issues a $seven hundred will do? And once you're searching for toughness, Macs are not maximum suitable. If something breaks in a Mac, you deliver it off and pay out the *** to get it fixed. If a working laptop or workstation breaks, you purchase the section and snap it in your self. the only benefit a Mac has is the media modifying application that incorporates the OS, which could be offered (or won in different approaches) and nevertheless come out greater decrease priced than a Macbook. As for particular desktops, I propose HP, Dell and Toshiba. they have constantly executed nicely by me. seem for something with a great processor (preferrably twin middle), a minimum of three gigs of RAM, and a brilliant sufficient hard disk to hold all your artwork (it is going to variety looking on what considerable you come to a variety on).

Bot do have good and bad points. The portability of a Laptop can be more beneficial in College. Also, you go home for a weekend and not have to worry about your room-mate(s) using your computer, you easily take it with you. Most important is you may meet a nice girl that not have a laptop, and you may need to show her your laptop. So, portability is a must.

Get a laptop. They are tremendously powerful and you'll want to take it with you if you go home to your parents or wherever you go but you still need to finish a paper or do research while you're away. You can't transport your desktop (P.C.). You can also attach an external keyboard to a laptop if you don't like typing on the laptop keyboard. In fact, you can make the laptop do just about everything a P.C. can do. You'll be glad you got a laptop.

There is no way you could get through college without a computer and computer skills theses days. Get a Notebook (laptop) you can get laptops that have just as much memory as desktops and as for the internet dissconnecting, i have never had that problem. I think everyone will have a laptop in 10years time, desktops are only good for computer labs, office desks etc.

As a college student with both, I really prefer my desktop. I hate lugging around my laptop everywhere so it mostly collects dust, plus having easy access to Solitaire and Minesweeper is not necessarily a good thing during long lectures!

Get a laptop. I think its a lot better for a college student. Many colleges have computer labs and most of the computers in the labs are PCs.

Desktop...you can always sign a laptop out of the library or computing ctr. if you need one. All the advantages of a desktop that you listed make it a no-brainer.
