The Egg. Here is why.
The two birds that mated and fertilized the egg that became the first true genetic chicken.... were not true genetic chickens. Close maybe, doesn't matter. Each passed on RNA, which combined into DNA, replicated, hatched... chicken where there was no chicken before. Genetically, it was a chicken AFTER it was an egg, as the egg did not carry the genes of the father.
Stupid question. I've never understood anyone who thinks it's deep.
Oh, and about the "warm" comment. This question isn't BIRD or EGG, it's CHICKEN or EGG. Birds existed long before chickens.

Well it's now known that there were eggs that dinosaurs laid, there were no chickens then so, the egg was first I'd guess.

hey isn't this question in the wrong category?
of course the chicken came first. in the Bible it says that God created the animals and the birds. it did not say God created the eggs.
