Possibly it's the subconscious receiving what's likely to happen to you in the future and giving you this scene, complete with sounds, smells etc. Maybe once you have this when the event happens , you have a feeling you've been there before.

I know it may sound weird but here it goes.....
I've had these "Deja vu" moments and I kinda realized that they are from my dreams. Like I could be dreaming something and then in the middle od my dream there's a scene and then I just go to sleep. Then, let's say the next morning, I go to school and the same scene from my dream happens and I get this chill. It's really weird, it's like around my neck and it happens every time. So I really don't know what causes these moments....anything is possible really.

Usually you feel like you have dreamed of being in the exact situation before. My old psych prof believed there was nothing special about deja vu it was just a recurring feeling triggered by surroundings and mood.

They don't know. Researchers have been unable to create deja vu on demand for studies.

i read it somewhere long time ago, but what i remember is that for example u see a house for the first time, the info goes to the lift side of the brain first (some chemical dis keeps it from going to both at the same time) so by the time it reaches the right part of the brain, you get the feeling that you saw this house before
