If you delete EVERYTHING, you won't have the programs needed to log into the computer or bring up Windows when you start it. And did you back up just files, or the actual programs as well? I suggest you get a computer geek to help you so all is well in the end.

Put in the Operating System disk that came with your computer.

Re-Start your computer
Press "Enter" to boot from the disk (when it asks)
Follow the instructions to install the Operating System
It will give you the option to erase everything on the disk

I do this every few months.

1.start your Pc(hope you are using XP)
2.press f8
3.put in your XP CD &select the first boot device as Cd-ROM
4.computer will automatically restart
5.Select new installation
6.find an option delete partition at the at the bottom(think pressing "d" will do that)
7.once deleted it will show C: as your unallocated portion.
8.select that portion for your new installation
9.it will format C: & install a fresh XP

Deleting the portion(step 6) is important as it will delete everything in drive C; except system files. Also your new installation will be speedy if you do this.

Do you have a restoration CD? If so, insert this, reboot and follow the instructions. It should take you through the entire process which will wipe your hard disk.
