Heard the colleges select student based on GPA, community work and sports.
How big a part does sport play in the selection process.
I'm a competing ballroom dancer registered in national dancesports, does that give me credit as playing sports?

I got excepted at OSU my senior year at the end of september. I had;
community service- worked with the handicapped riding horses
held a part time job since I was 15
had a 3.8 gpa
engineering club
the math club
national honor society
had one year of college by the time I graduated.
I was offered workshops at OSU during the summer -I went to 3
I went to to tours of the campus from the dept of my major

they said the tours were important because i showed interest

I had sports and band but that did not count because
I was into track and I was just below the standard to play on an OSU team
I was a drummer and OSU has tons of drummers.

Yes -- it matters. The top business programs are incredibly selective. At a place like the University of Maryland, the average SAT score for those admitted to the B-School is 200-300 points higher than the average for liberal arts. At a place like University of Pennsylvania, many students get into the College of Arts who could never have gotten into the Wharton School. At many schools, women can get into the engineering school with lower scores than men, because these schools want to get more women into their fields. Laws of supply and demand work in college admissions. You should take that into consideration when applying.

Sure. What colleges look for is extra curricular activities. It always looks good if you do something extra at school. And some people believe dance is a sport. You can work that angle just fine.
