If you mean the current season, currently the answer is the Buffalo Sabres. The 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens hold the record I believe, since they had 132 points in an 80 game season. The 1995-96 Detroit Red Wings had 131 points in an 82 game season. If you mean winning percentage, the answer would the 1976-77 Canadiens. If you mean number of wins, the answer would be the 1995-96 Detroit Red Wings, with 62 regular season wins. The 1976-77 Canadiens won 60 games and the Stanley Cup. Since the 1995-96 RedWings didn't win the Stanley Cup,
I think the 1976-77 Canadiens (which were part of four consecutive Canadien Cup victories from 1976-1979) were the
superior team in the alltime standings of great teams. They had
a higher winning percentage during the regular season, and won
the Stanley Cup in the playoffs.

Your question isn't specific enough, if you mean this year than Buffalo at 15-2-1.

If you are talking all time then it is really unfair, as some teams have been around for 80 years while others have only been around for 5 or 6. I would have to say it is going to be one of the original 6 teams, most likely TO or Montreal

well yes this year Buffalo Sabres so far with like 31 points but of all time Montreal Canadiens have like almost 1000 more wins then the Toronto Maple Leafs.
