Your baby may be allergic to bed clothes, i.e. dust mites (more so really thier poo) , what bedding is made of ,or stuffed with. Also the laundry detergent or softener you use can be the culpurt. Does your baby show any other allergic signs? Do you have animals?

My Optomoligist suggest to wash eyes at least three times a day ,if you have allergic reactions, even more i.e. hayfever. You touch your eyes more than you think and an18 month old most likley more than one of us and our hands are major carriers of junk.

possible eye allergies.
I am an adult and experience the same thing. I have been diagnosed with neurological angioedema. I take simple anti-histamine eye drop with and sometimes an allergy pill if the puffiness does not subside. Don't let baby rub the eyes, be sure to keep his/her hands clean because dirt/dust can aggravate it.

Nothing too serious - take the baby to the doctor. He/she will be good as new.

Your child may be rubbing their eyes really hard in the morning possibly. If there is no crust or drainage I would take him/her to the dr to look for possible allergies. It's also possible he/she has an eye infection that isn't draining- when it comes to eyes and your child's vision it's always better to be safe then sorry.

Call the babies Dr. do not wait until next check up. better to be safe than sorry. But it sounds like an allergic reaction to something. If it is usually in morning check his/her bed, pillows. anything the baby comes in contact with while sleeping. Also, If you have pets make sure they aren't going in and cuddling up to baby at night.

There might be an infection or something. Just be on the safe side instead of wondering around as a nurse. They might be able to tell you whether you home treat it or take your baby to a doctor.

Good Luck!!!

Call the doctor, but you may just be waking the baby up before ready. Check for allergens.
