I have been pondering this questions for many years now, ever since i found it on a map... please someone help me with this question :D

The name Turks is derived after the indigenous Turk's Head 'fez' cactus, and the name Caicos is a Lucayan term 'caya hico', meaning string of islands.

The Turks & Caicos Islands lie some 575 miles southeast of Miami--a pair of million a million/2 hours flying time--with the Bahamas approximately 30 miles to the northwest and the Dominican Republic some a hundred miles to the southeast. the rustic incorporates 2 island communities separated by using the 22 mile huge Columbus Passage. To the west are the Caicos team: West Caicos, Providenciales, North Caicos, center Caicos, East Caicos and South Caicos. To the east are the Turks team: Grand Turk and Salt Cay. The Turks & Caicos finished 166 sq. miles of land section on 8 islands and 40 small cays. The Islands' inhabitants is approximately 22,000.
