I am not saying everyone disrespects women. However, I have noticed an alarming trend in today's culture. When did it become acceptable to tell a woman to " Shake her money maker." or to "Show me what ya got in dem pants." ? The above lyrics are quotes from some of today's most respected rap artists. These men are applauded for treating women like sex objects. They are filthy rich in fact for these songs. Even women themselves can be seen in clubs dancing very provacatively to those lyrics, endorsing them. Am I alone in my dismay at this? Women, where is your pride? Men, where has the respect gone? I am a twenty year old woman and I am sick and tired of seeing women my age portrayed this way. I am sick and tired of women accepting and even endorsing this portrayal. It is not just in rap that this trend can be seen. It is everywhere. Why?

Because unfortunately that crap sells CD's. Just once I would like to see a barely dressed man with his parts hanging out "shaking his money maker" for a video. I can bet you it would never sell.

I have respect for women. I am a conservative. What? How can those two things come from the same person?
Not according to some.
I think the women's movement has come a long way but has some problems. When a man like Clinton is supported by women's groups and then rapes women and has sex with a young intern in his office and the women's groups turn a blind eye, they lose credibility.
Also, the music that you refer to is usually done by "liberal" artists.
Freedom of speech comes with a high price sometimes. It is unfortunate everyone cannot be treated and judges not by their sex or color, but rather on their character.
I think if more of the women's movement leaders would disown the likes of Clinton and musical artists that right these foul lyrics it would clear up some hypocrisy and more people would be supportive.

I believe the disrespect for women started when the Women burned their bras back in the '60's. I am a female and I am not saying that women shouldn't have rights and be able to work at anything they so desire, however, children are being raised in a one parent homes and are not being taught respect as no one is at home to teach them. Then you have the colleges with way too liberal instructors brainwashing our young adults to teach the younger ones and there is no respect there either. Then you have corporate America that knows because of ignorance of the population that sex sells and they use it. And until the fair sex steps up to the plate and hollers "enough!", this will continue and get worse.

Time You had a Melt Down and told Him what You really think.Be blunt and direct and say it in words that any drunk can understand. Some people are born stupid and they have a difficult time getting simple concepts into their heads.Seems like Your Dumbo is such a person.Have a beer or two before You start and let Him know how You truly feel.A guy I worked with had the same problem .One evening His Wife had had enough ,She grabbed a rolling pin and broke all His teeth. That straightened Him out. They are no longer together ,but He is a lot more cautious when He gets drunk now.

Possibly because of a belief that we cannot think or act for ourselves without the supervision of a male. A recent example was at a lunch meeting with myself and two other "gays" plus seven other great women. A new member of our circle excused herself, saying her husband did not want her wasting her time at a Hen's Club. When asked if there was any problem at home, she just replied " Oh he's easier to get along with this way"
we offered our support if needed but disrespect of this sort seems bone deep to me.

i believe these things are going on due to the demoralization of the country. things are getting worse and worse and it does not seem as though it is going to get better any time soon. if you look at it, things that are acceptable now a days were taboo just 20-30 years ago, that is the problem, everyone is so politically correct and no body wants to hurt any feelings so everything is acceptable. it is just terrible and i agree with you it needs to stop, but until people stand up and risk offending someone, it never will

i think the concept has been ever since the world begun that women are considered second classs citizen....... but nowadays..... since the booming industry is "sex-entertainment" women are treated as objects of desire........not as objects of love and respect... i do agree with you.... i think we just need to think why women are the endorsers of cigarettes and cars...... see.....
