I have a deep sense of nostalgia when it comes to 80s TV. I pretty much grew up on it. We had all those classic shoulder pad dramas like Dynasty and Dallas. Then there were the sitcoms and there were so many it's ridiculous (Silver Spoons, Cosby Show, Gowing Pains, Family Ties) and then there were those shows like Love Boat, Greatest American Hero, Riptide, Fantasy Island, Magnum, Knight Rider, etc.

But I love the stuff that HBO and Showtime have done in this decade. So edgy and high quality (Sopranos, the new show Dexter, Sex and The City, Queer as Folk, Six Feet Under). I think that's a really great step forward. So if I ignore my nostalgic, emotional reaction altogether, I'd have to say this decade is the best for television, hands down really...

The 90's... mainly because I wasn't alive in the 70's and a lot of the good shows of the late 80's mostly ran through the 90's.

70's and 80's great, but you cannot beat the 90's. Seinfeld, Friends, ER, Growing Pains, Wings, Cheers, Wonders Years.....so many timeless classics. Must see tv on NBC Thursday night really was must see. Plus the explosion of choices and the vast improvement of picture quality and clarity.
