A well-rounded person has a good job, many friends, is involved in church/community endeavors, has hobbies, talents, a variety of interests, is energetic, fun, and organized...that's about 360.

All of the above listed info, BUT ALSO

1. Well read, knows the difference between good journalism and lousy journalism (local papers vs major metro papers vs The New York Times, Washington Post, LA Times, Wall Street Journal). Would rather choose the National Review or Atlantic Monthly over Time or Newsweek.
2. Well informed of world events.
3. Educated, knows the difference between facts, process, philosophy and opinion. Knows that the latter doesn't weigh as much as other disciplines.
4. Knows the arts--theatre, art, music, dance. Knows generally what they're all about.
5. Ventures outside their "comfort zone" of the local community, beyond state lines, especially on vacation. Doesn't go where all the neighbors go. Goes to Italy, other European countries and develops appreciation of history, the arts, and the good life. Likes differences between people.
6. Isn't fearful of debate with other people. Knows that differences of opinion doesn't mean you can't be friends.
7. Knows the difference between fashion, style, and making your own statement. Knows good value and quality--doesn't waste money on high priced fashion items.

These are characteristics I think add to a well rounded personality.

Well-rounded is someone who has been exposed to various types of experiences... Tried to play sports, read some books, joined the choir, travelled a little, seen an opera, watched cartoons... etc. A well-rounded person does not have to be an expert at any of these things but he/she has been exposed to so much that they are not afraid to try something new. A well-rounded person cannot be placed in any one category - not a nerd, not a jock.

Being "well-rounded" is a personality trait.
In my experience, someone who is attributed with being well rounded is well balanced. They have a variety of interests, they have a good personality, they are academic and athletic, they are charitable and kind, interested in bettering the community, but they are still able to have fun, they are someone you want to be around.

A well rounded person has control of his/her life physically, spiritually, financially, emotionally, and intellectually. He or she is in "balance", more or less, setting and meeting goals in those areas, and not miserably failing in any of them.
