I'm a 21 year old stay and home mom and to make some extra money I was thinking about posting a babysitting ad in my apartment complex laundry room. What kind of requirements would I need to save my own *** if something happened to one of the kids that I might watch. Do I need insurance? Do I need to take classes? I want to do it by the book and I don't want to get sued.

some apartment complex's will not allow you to establish a "business" out of your home. If it is just extra money babysitting, you want to take a child and infant CPR class, make sure you have good renters insurance in case someone gets hurt in your apartment, and keep good records, document every bump and bruise on the child so you don't get blamed for anything. In this day and age it is hardly worth it unless you are already familiar with the family you would be working for. I would clean offices or houses on the weekends for extra cash, build up a few regular clients and that way you would have a structured schedule. I hope it works out for ya.

Im 23 and doing the same thing so I can stay home with my son. You can look up Daycare forums online and print out Parent Handbooks, info forums, ect. You can go threw and see what you like and change them to fit your daycare. I dont think you need insurence. But it probably depends where you live. A lot of times you can make another forum that lets the parent know you dont provide insurence but that you would like to know there doctor, policy #, ect. Then they sign it. Another good place to advertize ir Craigslist. Hope I helped some. Im trying to type with one hand and hold my sleeping son in the other.

Good thinking, do it by the book is very good idea, because you will be dealing with little ones and parents too, Take a year course, and get a permit after (you are allow to take three children under your supervision and additional 3 you should hire another person to help you) Get an insurance to play safe.

Unless u r very rich or very negligent to allow something to happen, I don't think you'll get sued. It'd be good if you take a CPR class. It's not necessary for a babysitter, but it may come in handy when junior is popping gummy bears.

Not much qualification you need... only long patience, extra time, and a caring heart........ you dont need much stuff since this type of work is not a full time job... is it??? Good luck!!!
