I broke mine too about 13 years ago. It is difficult because most doctors want to remove the plate and pin in my ankle but I am worried it will break more easily and so I have kept it in. I did meet a fellow who also had the same broken bones and he said his plate had given him a stroke and I should have mine taken out.

I did not have the plate removed; I still have it but I did have a stroke a year ago.

My advice to you is get your plate taken out because the longer you have it in the more you are gambling with time and you may have a stroke too.

You know, this is a matter between you and the doctor who put the plate in. You will only be confused with so many answers from people who may not really be in a position to answer your query. Don't you have any confidence in your doctor?
