penicillin is harmless to the baby.......but it will DEFINITELY alter the taste. Pump out some extra before taking the penicillin. And pump out the yucky milk afterwards.
I'm not sure what they told you to 'watch the baby' for.

You should be completely fine and not need to dump any of your milk. Consider how short a time frame you will have anything in your system and how highly filtered it will be by the time it reaches your breastmilk. There is so much fear about what is safe to consume while nursing, but most babies are exposed to far worse during childbirth. Drugs administered during labor are generally done so for a long period of time and reach the baby directly through the bloodstream. Personally I'm not a proponent of medicated childbirth, but plenty of babies are born after exposure to these drugs and are fine.
Your greatest concern about taking antibiotics while nursing is the large increase in the risk of developing thrush, a candida yeast infection that occurs on the nipple and in the baby's mouth. To avoid this, consider taking probiotics in addition to the penicillin, or, at the very least, make sure you eat lots of yogurt while on the antibiotics. This helps to prevent the spread of yeast. Wish you the best with your surgery!

Considering that penicillin is what they usually prescribe for mastitis and you cannot stop nursing when you have that, it is fine. Just watch the baby for reactions and make sure you both get probiotics to avoid yeast problems.

You can have penicillin while you breast feed. I'm allergic to it but got really sick and it was about the only 'safe' antibiotic while breastfeeding. I wanted to keep breastfeeding so we risked trying it, but I was too allergic and had to stop taking it. But the doc who gave it to me was my OB GYN - specifically because it was safe for the baby.

I've taken amoxicillin more than once while nursing.
Penicillin is approved by the AAP for use in breastfeeding mothers. (See link below.) It's rated "L1" which means it's one of the safest drugs.

You may want to express your milk and toss it till you are done with the medication to be safe, supplement the baby with formula, If the dentist said it is fine, it's up to you. Call your pediatricians office to be sure.

Yes, you are completely fine to breastfeed. Please do not stop breastfeeding for a day or two, and please do not substitute with formula. You didn't mention how old your baby is, but you wouldn't want to introduce a bottle if s/he hadn't ever had one.

Yes but don't breastfeed after you've had medication in your mouth. Wait for a day or so for that medicine to pass.
Use formula for a substitute (just to be safe).
