Before having kids and too much other stuff going on to allow me the time to sit down with a good novel, novels were IT! But, now I appreciate the fact that I can 'see' it in under 2 hours (although I know I'm probably missing the 'good stuff' and that there have probably been some changes made. . .) When the kids are older, I'll finally be able to read more than just a Reader's Digest article again, right?

The books. I mean, I just watched "The Davinci Code" and I was suprised at how much they altered from the book. Same with all the other "based on a book" movies I've seen. With the exception of the "Lord of the Rings" series, I have NEVER seen a book-accurate movie. NEVER. Plus, if you're reading the book you get to make up and imagine all the details, but if you're watching a movie after you have already imagined those things, it is disappointing because the director/producer/script writer may not have seen things the way YOU imagined them. That's why I won't read a Harry Potter book until AFTER I've watched the movie, because it's different and they leave a lot of details out, and it makes you frustrated because you aren't watching the movie, you are watching to see what they left out.

I prefer the novels. Don;t get me wrong I LOVE going to the movies but the book gos into so much more detail and you actually get to know tha chracters much better. Plus the movies are sometimes WORSE than the book. Directors will take a GREAT book and make a very dissapointing movie. SO yep I'm a book girl LOL

hands down the novels. the movies are never as good. The people and place never look like you imagined them to. Usually the movie maker changes things around. You imagination is far better than the movie

The novels, hands down, the directors always have to cut so much. For example, in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, entire elements were cut out, and a lot of events happened out of order.

Novels are better. Most movies don't even come close to how the book was written.

I like them both. If I enjoyed the book first then I don't want to see the movie but if I really enjoyed the movie first then I can hardly wait to read the book.

novels, but it's fun to go see a directors interpretation of a book that I have read.

I agree--hands down, the book wins.

YOU get to be the casting director, then!
