Alive.
The world was at war, relatives had gone missing in action, been killed or maimed. All of us young boys figured our only future in life was as cannon fodder for the rich b______s to kill off in their power plays.
To still be alive when we grew up was as much as we dared hope for.

I wanted to either teach or become social worker. Obviously, I wasn't out to make money; I just wanted to save the world. I am now a SAHM and I hope to go back to school to study nursing and midwifery.

A ballerina.
Every year we'd watch the Nutcracker on tv, and at the time I had never seen a black ballerina and so I thought it could never happen.
