They have to start a media campaign similar to the one used to start the war in Iraq. It was started on Fox News and it can be ended on Al Jazeera. They have to stay out of Iraqis' lives, make their presence less conspicuous, stop building bases, promise to leave when peace is reached or when the Iraqi government asks, and most importantly serve only in a defensive position... all offensive strategies and arrests must be conducted by the Iraqi government, not by the U.S., and they can't be involved in interrogation or in managing the prisons. Just guard duty, no offensive tactics... and the recent change in Congress will help to convince the Iraqi people that Bush, not the people and soldiers of the U.S., is their enemy and that in the U.S. he has been defeated. A good congressional investigation into the causes of the invasion would be helpful as well. The U.S. needs to stop sending U.S. workers to rebuild Iraq, they need to pay the Iraqis to do it and have soldiers guard them, pay them well, and instead of joining militias people will attempt to get on with their lives and support their families. Militia members will start leaving, as we're already seeing, their militias in favor of the official police force... some militia groups see themselves as protecting their people... and as the ranks start leaving the militias, the leadership, the real crazies who want to take control in Iraq, will be defenseless against Iraqi security forces. It's really quite simple.

Fix it to whose benefit? Ours, or the people of Iraq? Iraq is now a central point for the terrorists and Islamic extremists who hate America, thanks to our president. Our policies of trying to manipulate other governments always comes back to bite us in the butt. Our government supported Saddam Hussein when Iran and Iraq were at war with each other. See Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam. Twenty years later we invade Iraq to remove the evil Saddam. When will we ever learn?

One option is to give the Northern Part to the Kurds and let them have their own Country. Also provide the Kurds with the means to defend themselves against all neighbors.

it was all wrong from the beginning , we shouldn't involve in this war and if anybody said that this war is a protection for Israel I say it's very good to help a friend BUT it's really bad to kill my son to help someones son to stay a life. the only good thing we can do now is to let the Iraqi people handle it from this point.....we did our best
