I have some relatives I absolutely despise, but have to be there for the parents, you know how THAT goes...anyone in the same boat as I am?

I don't dread it. Sometimes we argue & have different opinions. But at the end of the day we're all family. We still say bye & say I love you. I am cooking the turkey this year b/c my mom's oven is broken. I have never cooked a turkey. I am not the greatest cook either. I will be keeping the pizza guy's number nearby, lol.

It's just us and the kids and grandkids. All the really awful relatives are now dead.. I used to get really stressed and often take it out on my adult daughter who always helps me get the meal on but then I realized I was making it stressful for others as well as myself and now I just go with the flow. I don't get all bent out of shape if the gravy is lumpy or the sweet potatoes are, instead, sweet potato chips because I over cooked them. We laugh and eat the good stuff! It's all about family, good food and watching the Lions lose (again).

Yes I'm really dreading it to the point that I'm thinking seriously about telling my husband to go with out me. I've got a 15 year old nephew who thinks all he can do is cuss and swear and he thinks that everyone needs to do what he wants. My sister-in-law lets him get away with it. I doubt that it will be a nice Thanksgiving.

Well...no. I actually like cooking with my cousins and having the family over. But me and my cousins sit at a different table as the other relatives so that is a plus.

Thanksgiving is a superb day in my kinfolk. We in simple terms appreciate one yet another and revel in good foodstuff and beverages. Few communicate approximately politics, and whether some do, they could as nicely be talking to a wall. (Have a solid and nourishing Thanksgiving, all suited?)

No. But I wish I had a big family to celebrate it with I only have my sister, my brother, my mother, my nephew, my son and my daughter and my baby niece, but I wish I had older people in the family. We don't celebrate thanksgiving like big family does, but we eat not as a family on the table but separate.

every time we ahve a huge family meal such as Thanksgiving, someone brings up embarassing stories or has to start some fight between someone and it always ends up with someone unhappy with some other family member. not in my immediate family, its always with my cousins and me. plus, i am on the younger side of my family, so i dont really have anyone to hang out with because everyone is so much older.

so sorry!
I too have both good and bad company that day so I try to ignore the bad and focus on the good.
Every family has a few nuts here and there.
But poor company is better than no family at all.
Happy Thanksgiving!
