2/3 X = 8 => 2X = 24 => X = 12: X is the original price

12 - 8 = 4$

if something is 1/3 off, that means Rosita still paid 2/3 the original price

in order to find 2/3 the price of something, you know you simply multiply the price by 2/3

since you already have the 2/3 price and need to find the original price, do the opposite

8 / (2/3) = 24/2 = 12

now you have the original price and the paid price...to find how much was saved, subtract the two

12 - 8 = 4

Rosita saved $4
