My friend got arrested about 29 days ago and transported to another state to go to jail and then in front of a judge because that is where the crime happened. They said he had a right to a speedy trial but i don't think they have sentenced him or whatever yet. Is there an average amount of time? I know this is a weird question, lol.

And btw, he lives in Virginia but he got transported up to michigan because that is where it happened. If he got bail would he be able to go back home, or does he have to stay in state?

Everytime I get arrested(which is quite often and matter of fact the last time was Wednesday...Just got out Thursday morning) I have my "First Apperance"(which is usually held inside the jail somewhere) the next day or two, which at First Apperance they give you the chance to bond out and sentence you. You don't get your 'real' court date(in the courthouse) until at least two weeks later, but sometimes it can take up to a month or more. It sounds like what happened to your friend is 1) He couldn't make bond 2) They didn't issue him a bond, which means he has to stay till his 'real court date' at that time they will either give him time served and let him out or give him probation or 3) He already went to court and has to do his time period

You usually go before a judge within 24 hours. This is when the judge will give the trial date and bond amount. Your friend can either post the bond or stay in jail until trial.

Trials can be several months from the arrest date

have you ever already filed a criticism of affidavit? Warrants count number on how long it takes for the warrant to be written up and signed via the decide. many times approximately 40 8 hours. Arrest warrants are valid until he's caught, did you already know the lads call? VS seek warrants that are valid for 3 days no longer which incorporate the day of issuance and the day of execution. grew to become into it a criminal (agg) attack or purely an elementary attack?

it totally depends on the state/city. NYC, for example, is so backed up that 2 years could be a "speedy trial." In other states, it could be a month or two.
