The DMV in almost every state will check for profanity prior to allowing a vanity plate to be made. Ironically, in the state of Florida a couple of years ago, one regular plate came through without being ordered... It was A55 RGY. While that alone doesn't look that bad, consider the fact that Florida has an orange in the middle of the plate, which with this plate worked very well for an O right before the R...

No, you cannot put profanity on a license plate. They actually still try to prosecute people caught with an obcene liscense plate. In fact, vague licence plates that could be obcene are often rejected if they can be considered profanity. In fact, in Vermont you are unable to get a licence plate which references "race, religion, color, deity, ethnic heritage, gender, sexual orientation, disability status or political affiliations."

NO! you cant yell fire in a crowded theater, don't say hi jack on an airplane, no talking about a bomb plot on the same airplane, and no talking about assassinating the president. those are just a few examples of more infringement of your rights to free speech.

No you cannot. There is a specific devision of the DMV that reserches any personalize plate that you want and if it in any way seems to be offensive orwhatever they will turn down your request.

well, first of all, there is no freedom of "expression". just speech. expressing yourself could be killing the president. but you probably can say something stupid like that on a license plate.
