my whole outlook on life is different now that I've become older and wiser. I use to not like children but now that i have one of my own they are just adorable.

This may be a little long, so bare with me. I am not yet 40 and I have clipped coupons for a long time, saving lots of money, only to spend it on movies,cd's, eating out etc. Well I didn't start that til I had children, which was 14 years ago.
ok, anyway I became sick and going to doctor after doctor for several years up until last year when they finally found out what was wrong with me. I have a condition in my brain called Chiari I Malformation and it was so bad, I had to have surgery within a few weeks of them finding the Chiari. In any case, that was a life changing moment for me. I didn't feel that I was going to die, other family members did, but I was very positive and had a good outlook on things. After the surgery and I came home, my mother helped me for a few weeks and I am still in the recovery stages. It, as of tomorrow, is exactally a year. I cannnot work, cannot do laundry, cannot do many things I was used to doing myself. I have changed the way I look at things, live for today, enjoy your family, and you are very right, who cares what others think of you as long as you are happy with yourself. All I do know is that if you have a goal or dream, go for it. Don't kill yourself over it, just live your life, we only have one chance at it, our children will only be young once, Enjoy them and life, before it passes you by!!!!! And remember you mother really did know best!
I went to a place called The Chiari Institute in Long Island,NY. I and grateful to have found them because I was on my way to being in a wheelchair.
Oh and my mom used to tell me there were only 2 rules in life and here they are:
Rule 1: Don't sweat the small stuff.
Rule 2 Everything is small stuff.
The more I think about it, the more I know it is true. Basically I am the same person, I just don't take things a face value anymore! You never know whats underneath

Yes i feel the same as you do, sometimes i look in the mirror and think when did i get so old. But what makes me really realize that i changed the way i think is when my kids do something, or say something that i find ridiculous or weird, and then i think you know i did that when i was their age also. God to be a kid again

I'm the same way...I guess what I hate the most are the changes in my body as I age. I'll be 36 next week and I've just found that I seem to sweat alot more than when I was younger, and stuff that didn't sweat before (my feet!) sweat now; my skin has gotten oilier as I age and wearing makeup bothers my skin now. I have more aches and pains in my body and I just don't have the energy I used to have! I hate getting older! :(

I was never even sort of prudish...now I wish people would leave sex out of SOMETHING. Once in a while. Occasionally. It seems like it HAS to be in everything now.
I get cold more than I used to, so I dress warmly now. Never used to fasten my coat, even in Minnesota winters!
I have learned I can't save everyone. Or even every cat.
And you're right, some things just aren't worth fussing about!

Well as I wear my reading glasses to see the screen, which I never wore till after I turned 45. I think I worry about driving to much because I dont want to waist gas. I am very interested in haveing great looking grass.. I worry about the way we are leaveing the earth for our kids. I am happy for the little things , like sitting in the woods, like watching my kids, like everyone being togather at dinner time( something that dosent happen often)

I I am living differently. My life changed when I lost my knight in shining Armour few years ago. He did everything for me, took care of so many things financially and in so many other ways. Even tho we both worked we always had time for many other interests...Now I do them alone, and have had to learn to share my life with other members of my family. I have a motto now that I live for and that is "things are the way they are" and some times your life changes and you have to do things differently in order to survive.

I used to hate pb&j sandwiches, now I crave them.
I hated fish except tuna, the opposite is now true.
I used to think that I wanted to get married, now I don't think I want to.
I never wanted to be an educator... I knew I'd hate it... This has now been confirmed as I "fell into" this profession.
I never thought I'd go against certain morals I had... until I did... and was glad for the experience.

i have changed a lot as i have gotten older. i am way more tolerant, less angry & much happier. i never cared what people thought of me & now i care even less. i love the freedom of being older & doing what i want when i want ....i still go to rock concerts, watch scary movies & love disneyland. i can still stay out all night & be with my friends, laughing until we cry.. plus i have found that i love deeper than ever before..

You must have read my thoughts. I am "older", too, and agree with you on all that stuff. I even look in the mirror and think, how did my Mom get in there! Life's too short to be bothered by the little things! Hurray for us for discovering that!
