If you love and care about him why did you let him go in the first place. If the only reason you are facing these feelings now is because he has a new girlfriend than it sounds like you want him for all the wrong reasons. Sometimes people only want something they feel they can no longer have, if this is the case for you then you need to let go. Its just not fair to him or to who he is currently seeing to try and get him back if that's your only reason for wanting him back.

The best way to cope is to stay away from the places he frequents or the places you may see him. Go out with your friends to other places. Do not stay at home and think about them. Go make new friends by doing something different. Volunteer helping out at a local hospital or at a library by reading to kids. When you help someone else, it takes your mind off of your woes and it will help time go by as you heal. The sooner you let this guy out of your system, the sooner, the new guy will be allowed into your new life. You can't start a new relationship if you are still stuck in an old one.
I started dating a guy and moved to be near him (he wanted me to move in with him). I chose to move near instead. If I hadn't, I wouldn't have known he was cheating on me. It was so hard to live near him and see him cheating on me. It was a blessing in disguise. I had to find a different route to drive, even though it was only a few blocks away. I had to go to the store at hours I knew he wouldn't be there in this small town. It will take time, but you can allow yourself those few days to grieve, but you have to move on and don't let him take those days away from you that you can be using to do things that will make you happy. Honestly, doing things with your friends will help. Hugs to you.

Believe it or not you will get over this boy - it is really true when they say time heals - try to get out and meet new people and in time you will probably wonder what you ever saw in him - remember you broke up for a reason

I have been in your shoes and the best thing you can do is try to be happy. I found when I practiced happiness and having a good attitude made my attempts at happiness a reality. Hope that makes sense.
