Once had a New Yorker on my survey crew. He was deathly afraid of rattlesnakes and sought counsel from me as regards repellent...I told him to eat as much garlic as he could keep down and to string cloves of garlic to wear around his neck..after about 10 days of suffering quietly had to tell him that it was all just a joke...he stank of garlic for another 2 weeks.... must admit we didn't see any rattlesnakes for the entire time though...

Nope- other than MASSIVE amounts of mothballs, no known scent repels snakes. In fact, no known house-hold chemical or repellent will do the job well.

No, garlic will not repel rattlers & neither will moth balls(old wives tale).

use mothballs it repels all snakes. but it is toxic to other animals so make sure you put it where others can't get to it .
