I just put up a humming bird feeder in Los Angeles, California. It is so so busy :) I love it! Would one be so lucky to find humming bird experts out there?

Whats nice about the world is that if a hummingbird dies, generally, another will replace it, and so the cirle of life goes on. Unless you plan on tagging the hummingbirds for surveillance / observation, I dont think you'll notice any missing hummingbirds.

The great thing about feeding hummingbirds in So. Cal is that we have hummingbirds here YEARROUND! Anna's Hummingbird are resident and do not migrate. These are the species you are probably seeing. In the spring we will get Allen's, Rufous, Black-chinned, and Costa's (usually associated with deserts) all migrating through!! Have fun!

They dont live very long, 2 to 4 years. If you have some trees in your yard they will make nests in the spring and you will get to enjoy the baby hummers. There really fat and cute! The babys kinda float around like bumble bee's. Its a kodak moment!
