Gargling with the warm water helps. Salt water will help break up the mucus.

I have also recently found an herbal tea called "throat coat" [don't laugh] made by Traditional Medicinals that I got at the grocery store. I sing in two choruses and am doing an operetta at the same time, crazy I know, and this really helps restore my voice.

Also avoid sugar and dairy.

gargle with warm salt water before bed and in the morning.
...lozonges work good also for those times when you cant gargle.,

drink lots of water today so that tomorow, your throat wont be dehydrated,.

in the morning have a healthy breakfast and maybe have some tea w/ honey in it, the honey should help soothe your throat.

good luck!

I am sorry to hear about your problem. Even if you don't have a cold. I would recommend take some Cold-eeze as recommended and an hour before you go on. All the other suggestions are good too.

Gargle with warm water and salt and try not to speak too much tonight. Keep gargling.

Try throat lozenges. As a last resort, try and work your "new" voice into your act somehow.
