I'm looking to go to a classic American town for a romantic weekend with my girlfriend and will probably stay at a country inn. Any suggestions from someone who has travelled?

Check out Waynesville, NC, or any small town in Western NC, very romantic. This section of NC is dotted with bed and breakfasts and romantic hide-a-ways. Pigeon Forge, or Gatlingburg, TN, are also excellent.

Lake Geneva, WI. They have some of the best B&B's i've ever stayed in. There is also a real cute, romantic town called kalamazoo in MI. (or maybe it was just the company that made it so great for me!!!!!) :)
