generally if you are concerned about others nowing if you miscarry.....you are better to wait until you have hit the 12week mark....maybe just tell your immediate family and ask for them not to spread the good news just yet.....CONGRATULATIONS

As the first trimester closes, your risk of miscarriage decreases greatly. Most miscarriages occur during the first 13 weeks of pregnancy.
For women in childbearing years, the chances of having miscarriage can range from 10-25%, and in most healthy women the average is about 15-20% chance.
An increase in maternal age changes the chances of miscarriage:
* Women under the age of 35 yrs old have about a 15% chance of miscarriage:
* Women aged 35-45 yrs old have a 20-35% chance of miscarriage
* Women over the age of 45yrs old can have up to a 50% chance of miscarriage
* A woman who has had a previous miscarriage has a 25% chance of having another (only a slightly elevated risk than for someone who has not had a previous miscarriage)
So, as you can see, you have surpassed the point of general concern. Of course there are alway exceptions, but based on the limited information provided you are in a good position.
Good luck to you! Wishing you a healthy, happy, worry-free pregnancy....

Why are you worrying about miscarrying your baby? is there anything wrong? I didn't hear my baby's heartbeat until I was 13 weeks pregnant but I never doubted he was going to be fine, I told everybody I was pregnant when I was only 2 weeks! I was so happy! I never worried about it, a lot of people told me that it is better to wait until after the first trimester but you know what? You can loose your baby at ANY TIME during your pregnancy, the chances just drop after the first trimester. I have heard of ladies loosing their babies at 34 weeks because of still births and between 15-25 weeks it is also very likely that you loose your baby, because of early labor or well ALL KINDS OF THINGS, your baby is not 100% guaranteed to you, BUT if you pray and if you take care of you and if you do all the rights things then you should not worry about loosing your baby. I knew my baby was going to be fine because I take care of myself and I make sure I do all the right things. So the decision is really up to you. Good luck and God bless.

Well...
The farther along you are, the less likely a miscarriage. You are likely safe and could tell people now, but in life there is of course no gaurantees. I'd say go for it, let people know. You are more likely to carry this baby to term than miscarry.

Congratulations on your baby! There is just nothing like seeing your baby's heartbeat! Wait until you hear it--even better!!!! Spotting is normal; I did with my first pregnancy and delivered a healthy, beautiful angel with her halo included. :-) I am now 6 weeks and 3 days and have spotted a little. I have an ultrasound next week and very much hoping to see the heartbeat. The wait time is very nerve-racking! But, all in all, enjoy your pregnancy because it is a beautiful thing and best part of life...especially when you hold your baby. :-)

I told people at 9 weeks, although it is generally the rule of thumb to wait until you are about 13 weeks. This is when you enter your 2nd trimester and the risk of miscarriage drops.
Your are at a higher risk of miscarriage during your first trimester, but this changes once you enter your 2nd trimester.
I'm 14 weeks, myself.
Good luck!

I felt the same way as you. When I saw the heartbeat for the first time, my Dr. said that once you see the heartbeat, the chance of miscarriage is down to only 3 %. I always thought that it decreased after the first trimester also, but he reassured me that once you see a strong heartbeat your chances are much better. Good luck & I hope this helps you feel better!!

Generally, it's after you reach the 12 week mark is when they say chances of miscarriage drops considerably. Spread the news when you feel comfortable. I told everyone before my first trimester ended, I was so excited!
Congratulations and good luck!

I am amazed you waited this long.... I called everyone I knew the minute my pee test came up positve (at 11:30 at night, I might add). That is really just a matter of opinion, they say once you get into 2nd trimester your chance of a m/c is really reduced... but why not be positve? Not everyone miscarries!

First Congrats and best wishes,
We had previous experience with having to tell EVERYBODY that I miscarried so we went ahead and waited the second time. I say wait. It'll be Christmas when you tell everyone. What I cheap gift!

Go ahead and tell everyone! It's such an exciting time! It's so hard to keep it inside!! I told around...8 week, after I had my first ultrasound and we saw the babies heartbeat, my ob told me that after that point, the miscarriage rate is rather small. So dont worry and enjoy this time!! Goodluck!!!
