The heater is built into a trailer (central air), with an outside tank. Kerosene can be used, but I'm wondering what kind of fuel to order for it. My mom refers to it as just "Oil."

Better check the receipts most the time fuel oil is used. #2 high sulfur diesel will be phased out soon good time to get a heat check up. Size of the burner's fuel nozzle is very important. There might even be tax credits for upgrading the heating system. To a Heat pump or something more modern.

All fuel oils are indeed similar in many respects, BUT: Kero is much cleaner (and more expensive) than diesel, which typically has additives that are undesireable in appliances designed to use kero. Fuel oil is dirtier yet, very smoky and smelly, and not at all practical for kero appliances. So the answer is, if you don't know which fuel your appliance was designed to use, you can't make a responsible or informed decision about alternative fuels. Find the name of the manufacturer and model number on the appliance, go to the manufacturer's web site, and download a pdf of the user manual for your appliance; it will list all the acceptable fuel alternatives. If the manufacturer is out of business, ask any RV or house trailer dealer - they'll also know. Any other approach might be dangerous to your appliance - or to you, so don't experiment.

Its called Home heating oil, It is tax free or so we think, it is died red but if your tank is small it may be hard to get a truck to come out and fill it so use k2 not K1 kereosene K1 will cause your heater to burn too hot.
