Depends on which stem cell research you are talking about!

Depends.... are you talking about adult stem cells, or embryonic stem cells? Government or private funding?
Embryonic: against; dismissing all the moral and ethical issues, there has been *NO* positive results to date from this research. The government pores to much money down the drain as it is. I don't want my tax dollars going to dead end research. Let the private sector fund it if they wish.
Adult: for; there has been a lot of positive results from this research, and even regular medical use. Put money on this research. It is actually doing some good.

I'm against embryonic stem cell research. I've heard that adult stem cells have just as much potential, more than had originally thought, so I support that. My family has a history of alzheimer's disease so I deeply hope a cure for this disease, as well as many others, is found to protect future lives.

I support both adult and embryonic stem cell research. What people seem to not understand is that the embryos that would be used are going to be thrown away. Yes, they HAD the potential of being a human life, but the ones that would be used for research were never going to be a human being. They were going to be discarded. So, wouldn't it be better to use those....THAT WERE NEVER GOING TO BE A HUMAN BEING....to cure some dibilitating diseases??? I think so.

This is very controversial, and the ideas behind it boil down to do you believe that a one celled [or very few] organism is a full human or not?
I do, and believe that I was fully human and was me and was not simply part of my mother at conception. Anyone telling me otherwise is insulting to myself and my own humanity. I am glad my mother did not believe in such things as the opposition when she was preg with me in 1973!
