Well I've had my car for about 2 months now (94 Mitsubishi Diamante ES). When I first started opening the car door on the drivers side I found that it was a little difficult. It wasn't smooth, and it felt as if the key was about to break. Eventually it did and I got a copy made. When I unlock the passenger side it's perfectly fine. No stress at all, and it just turns smoothly. For some reason up til today the driver's side door has gotten a lot worse. To the point where I can't turn it anymore. The key even cut me because I was trying to turn it so hard... I'm pretty sure it's not my key.

What's wrong with my key door whole?
How much would it cost to get it repaired.

(Also before it stopped turning completely, it use to make a rusty sound)

The tumblers inside are corroded or worn. Take it to a lock smith (cheaper than dealer). Try spraying wd40 into the lock to free it up.

Before you break the key in it----try some W-D 40-a spray lubricant...you can usually get it with a straw like device so you can spray into the lock---if you don't find that take a paperclip(lg) and spray the W-D as you insert the paperclip in and out of the lock---if all else fails call a locksmith and go to their shop-its usually cheaper than having the lock changes and getting a new key for one door.

The lock cyl in the door is no good .You will need to replaced the lock cyl and have the cyl coded to the key. Should cost 100-200 $ plus parts.I believe this is your trouble but the door latch could also be the problem ,But the rusty sound tells me the cyl is rusted beyound repair.

you probably need a new tumbler, it should have been lubricated with graphite while it was still turning. It is probably too late now. You can go to a dealer or a locksmith experienced with working on cars. Figure fifty to a hundred dollars.
