Well after all the fall housekeeping is done, the silver polished and the good stuff brought out and the table is set and the shopping is done...then there is the baking, the peeling, mashing, the stuffing to make. Next comes cleaning the bird, stuffing and baking it. All the while you feed people snaks, keep the kids quiet and busy, set the table and call everyone for the carving of the turkey. As you have struggled to get everything on the table hot and all at oncet...the men don't show up because it is the last quarter of the football game and the score is 12-12 and they are in a state of high anxiety and won't move from the set and yell to you ...."wait a minute...it's the last quarter and the score is tied" and you stand there with the done bird on the tray and think ...why do I put myself through this year in and year out? When it is all done and over with and everyone has stuffed themselves with pumpkin and apple pie, had a walk, and about to take a nap...you realize the only one that has been kind and thankful for you and all your effort is the faithful family dog.
So my dear, if you have never done this annual tradition, don't start. Book a table at a nearby resturant and save yourself a lot of work and enjoy the day off. Don't forget the doggy bag for the family pet.

Halloween isn't the Devils day. initially it become referred to as Samhain, the Celtic New 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. often pronounced as The Day of the lifeless it become believed that this worldwide and the subsequent have been very close on that day and human beings could have fun their ancestors and flow away meals for wandering spirits on the roadside. It become a time of magic and this has filtered down into cutting-facet custom as ghosts, witches etc. Being a Pagan pageant it had no longer something in any respect to do with the devil, as that is a Christian ingredient. The call of Halloween is derived from All Hallows Eve which precedes All Saints day - a Christian pageant. Christmas too is initially Pagan - referred to as xmas. The Romans celebrated their own version right now - Saturnalia. So neither pageant is Christian in any respect. in case you do in comparison to Samhain then that is okay, it is your determination. i like it although. by using the way, Easter become a Pagan pageant too and could Day become Beltane, so it fairly is fairly helpful to ward off those besides.

We have family and some friends over for dinner, everyone brings something, and just have a great time of reminiscing about different things that happened on past Thanksgivings or whatever.

My family comes up to NY from PA and we have a big dinner with turkey, ham, stuffing, pumpkin pie, and all the other good stuff. Then we all hang out, talk, play board games and go shopping, then most of the time, they leave and go to their other home thats here.

Kill the pet turkey we've been raising on the farm all year.
We draw straws to see who will be the lucky one to do the honors this year.
This year Elsie (that's the name of the turkey) looks especially good and plump.
Gobble gobble!

Usually work...I get paid double time to work holidays and since I don't have any family to celebrate the holidays with, it gives someone else who does have a family the chance to spend it with them instead of get stuck working.

First we all give our thanks and the things we are thankful for. We then eat Turkey and Ham and all that goes with it then we
get out that 8 foot aluminum pole and everyone grabs a hold and
we all scream out our regrets until everyone is tired and their ears are ringing and we have some Pie and icecream
