I have several friends that I'm far away from. We keep in touch and see each other occasionally. But I've made some new friends and I keep in touch with my old ones faithfully. Nothing can replace that person...and sometimes they are closer than family. I'd suggest you two make it a habit of meeting half-way between (one hour) and at least having lunch every 2-3 months or so...or on special occasions. Good friends have a knack for picking up right where they left off and you'll have more meaningful visits. Godloveya.
