I'm in a dorm and there are no visible place that the odor is coming from. I've bought 3 boxes of the special baking soda with the openings and left them in there a week to no avail. There is nothing in the refrigerator.

Take everything out, defrost the freezer, and clean it really well. With yellow rubber gloves and bleach.

The best and easiest thing to clean it with is this:

Get a spray bottle and fill it with 10-20% bleach and the rest with tap water. It will kill everything that is growing in there. I got this tip from my dad who works in a Laboratory.

take the drawers out, remove the drip pan, and clean it all with white vinegar. It removes everything. Do not dilute the vinegar. leave the door open to let it dry out when finished
