Evelyn Waugh wrote the book. It is beautiful to read and if you enjoyed the tv series you will not be disappointed by the novel. John Mortimer lifted the dialogue out like the head waiter at the Ritz fillets plaice at your table - perfectly, complete and without hesitation. It is one of the very few television screenplays that is a joy to watch. The book is poignant and bittersweet ~ unexpectedly so if you read Waugh's satirical novels beforehand. It is about love and youth and joy and regret and redemption and hope and God. READ IT.

reckoning on your definitions.... V.C. Andrews' books have been written via a male author for years. She did write the 1st 5 or so in the previous her dying, however the rest have been executed via a male "ghost," Andrew Neiderman. Lydia Adamson who did a pair of series of mysteries grew to become into rather Frank King. EDIT: I nonetheless think of it particularly is VC Andrews by way of fact the others are extra well known below the male call; the way your query is framed, it particularly is the female version this is extra helpful ordinary. there is often Judith Michael, who's a husband and spouse team Judith Barnard and Michael Fain. or consistent with threat that's a connection with "Carolyn Keene" who grew to become into dreamed up via Edward Stratemeyer, although the books have been many times written via various women authors, which incorporate Stratemeyer's daughter. additionally, Judith Barnard stated above is meant to have written 3 of the Nancy Drew titles.
