I personally know many men who are trampled during a divorce, but yet they don't seem to get down and dirty to defend themselves and their assets. Some of these wives walk away with a bulk of the marital assets, but the man seems reluctant to get an attorney , or as I have heard, they just hope It "blows over quickly." Why why why?

There's LOTS of reasons. Some men think that if they don't fight it then it'll be over faster and don't stop to consider the long term consequences. Some just do the "ostrich" approach and hide their heads in the sand. Some know that it's their fault, they were abusive or cheated, so they just accept the consequences. Some want to play the martyr role and "look, she took everything" while others figure "it's just money" and don't want to spend the energy defending assets they can, in time, replace.

Some figure "Oh, well, if she gets everything at least the kids have it, too." It's complex.

They are at an emotional self esteem low that doesn't end. They feel worthless and defenseless and they are for the most part with popular opinions such as Dead Beat Dad, abuser, cheater, thrown at them by former friends (girlfriends) of the couple when there isn't a truth in any of it. They are normally ostracized and find themselves alone with their feelings of depression and no emotional support. They do things that they wouldn't have ever thought of doing before to end the anger, agony, and loneliness which puts them in jail or worse.

It's a pitiful thing to see a man you thought was strong be reduced to wimpy pussywhipped mouse at the time of divorce. I know of a guy who got taken over the coals when he got divorced to the point he now lives at his parents and has no money to go out, but this guy still stops at the ex's house and mows the lawn and shovels the snow. I don't get it.

There's no price on peace of mind.
Chances are they have been beaten up emotionally for a while.
They just want to get out with their lives.
Everything else you can buy again.
If kids are involved...The less said, the less mended.
When they go to get the kids for visits,
the sh!t doesn't always hit the fan.
You can fight now and pay later,
or keep quiet and not fight at all.
A guy has to decide which is best for himself,
and which is best for his kids.
If it's peace you want, it's peace you have to portray.

Becasue they figure there is no hope and that the woman has all the rights...but that is not necessarily so in all cases. A man shouldn't take it lying down unless he was the guilty party and cheated or something like that

Because if children are involved most men don't want to take the responsibility of raising them so the wife gets them. And he chooses to let her have most of the belongings to help with them...
