Do something that he likes, like the hoodie or a game, but give it to him in a way that reminds him you put some thought into making him happy on Christmas--stick a card in there and write in it something about why you got it for him, or something. You don't have to think of it as a gift with no meaning--you don't have to go buy the guy a watch and have his name engraved on it to have him know you put thought into it. If he likes games, and you get him a game, he's going to know that you care and remembered what he likes, and put that into gift form.

I've tried to surprise my boyfriends with many different things and give him clothes he may need but it all comes down to what he really wants. My guy is all about his car, always trying to work on it and make it look good and drive well/fast so i've been getting him parts for his car. He also enjoys installing it after...when it comes to his car, he's just like a kid again! So if he's really into games, maybe get him accessories for his game console. Include a game and a bigger memory card or high tech controllers. or something like that. good luck

Best advice from an expert: think about how much you want to spend. Then think about what he'd do with that money if he suddenly found it in his pocket by magic. That's what to get him.
Even if it's obvious, it works every time. The important thing is to get him something he'll like. My family votes me best gift-giver every year!

Get him some clothes that he may need. Underwear and socks. You can never have too many socks. But on top of any gift you buy him, make him a little coupon book. Example: "Good for one great big kiss, ANYWHERE!". Get creative.

He might like a Palm Pad, men like gadgets and he can use it all the time. Make sure you get some good games on it.

You could get him a nice watch. He will never be late again. A calendar is always a nice gift too.
