Yes, unless of course the tree thinks "if nobody is going to hear me then I will fall quietly so as not to disturb the wildlife".

This is an allegedly philosophical question which I have always regarded as stupid. The answer to it depends completely on the way you define "noise". If for you noise are the vibrations transmited through the air in the form of waves which we call "sound", then you can affirm that a tree makes noise, for the vibrations are there, whether there is someone to detect them or not.

yes if a tree falls it will always make noise but that doesnt mean someone will hear it. just like if a tree falls in the middle of the forest and no one hears it.....it still makes noise.

mmmm ... A tree stands alone in a deserted Forrest? I guess we have to determine if there is a tree there in the first place. If the tree is there and it does fall it will make a noise even if no one is there to hear it.

Age old question, why wouldn't it make a noise? Falling down usually involves some kind of sound whether there is someone there to hear it or not.

Actually, the answer is NO, it doesn't make a noise. Noise is just a vibration that our hearing picks up and interperates as sounds, so therefore if a tree falls and there is no one to hear the vibration, there is no noise.

Why not research the answers of the hundreds of people who have asked this question here before? The answer is not unless the vibrations are heard by a tympani membrane and interpreted by a brain as a sound.

Sorry, can you repeat the question? I couldn't hear you, due to a tree crashing down in the distant forest!

Probably yes. Just because nobody is there to hear it doesn't mean it doesn't make a noise just the same as it fell regardless of there being nobody there to see it.
