Man! I can answer this, no problem. It's in a Russian movie called Soldat (soldier). Long time ago.

Plot: a young soldier, a teen, is trying to get back to his little village to see his mother before he goes to the front in WW II. He is walking, snagging trains, trucks and any means of transpo. A girl his age falls in with him. They reject each other, she is always a problem, needing to be protected or hauled aboard a moving rail car, or he has to find food for her too.

You got it; the audience knows they are in love before they do. And then they have to make a dash for a freight train that is moving. He gets on the car and reaches back for her hand. she is almost done when he catches her fingers, and pulls her up between the accelerating cars.

They stand for a momen, faces inches apart, and their eyes say this is the moment of realization, they have bonded in spirit.

Then the wind of the moving train whips a strand of her hair toward him and it gently wraps itself around his head. No kiss, no eruption of passion, but their souls are joined in the link formed by that delicate wisp of hair. It was magnificent, and only a Russian director could have conceived of it.

It was a Russian film, and the final scene shows the boy being killed in a forest somewhere on the western front.

The one in Meet Joe Black. It is pretty similar to what you are describing but the other way around, just seeing how a guy feels if his first time is as awesome and not sloppy makes me go awww.
