Norwegian Holiday Tradition has been passed on down for Generations. Our Family , has done it since they came to American soil. Every Christmas Eve, we would have Lutefisk, Lefsa and riced potatoes. Then on Christmas Day(dag) we would have Rommegrote. That is a wonderful cream pudding or we would say cream mush.
Un-fortunately my children do not like Lutefisk. They detest it. It is a white fish served with melted butter. But every year, I continue to prepare it. The Rommegrote, is still Loved at our house. I prepare it and it gets eaten right away. Since , pagan times, the Lutefisk has been a main source in Norway. Nowdays , only the poorer people or the Norwegians who use it , mainly for tradition. The main Christmas treat during the Holidays now, is Raindeer meat. yum, yum. My family Loves Lefsa(potatoe pancake rolled up with butter and sugar.) I make that every year. Lots of work. Then we have Krumkake, Rosettes, Fatigman. I am in hopes they will value our Norwegian and carry on.

My Aunt is famous for bringing a huge green jello mold with floaty things in it. They change a bit every year. Carrot shavings, marshmallows, raisins, just weird stuff. It is fun to get the newcomers or young kids to try it . We older kids, now in our forties, just smirk when people get forced to have a slice of it from my aunt. When she passes, her daughter will inheret the famous jello mold and pass on the tradition.

We celebrate Three Kings Day on January 6 (also it is the 12th day of Christmas). This is the day that the three Kings finally visited Jesus... Everyone puts a boot by the fireplace and the "Three Kings" fills them with small presents.
