we have to spend 15 hours on it, have a mentor and write a 10 page paper but the topic is up to us......and i have nothing.

How about lack of proper guidance in the Public School system? Do teachers work for a salary or to improve the knowledge of the youth they teach? What is wrong with education in (your country) today. Do any of these get it for you?

How about the evolution (or whatever it is called) of technology? If you look back to the 70s, it was a lot different. But in the past 30 years, look how much everything has changed. Go even farther, say the 50s, and look how much things changed in 20 years. This could give you a lot of time studying. Also, technology does not have to be stuff like computers and iPods. Try cars and the laser and stuff like that as well.
I believe you could put in many hours into this and have a good amount of pages. If not, try psychology. There is a lot on that, and you could fill up way more than 10 pages since it is such a big subject, or select a category from it (ex. depression- may involve suicide, self-mutilation, etc.).

Try making a slideshow about you growing up. Have the person write the paper on how they have felt about watching you grow physically, mentally and emotionally.
