Depends. Dogs want to be with you all the time, which can be a good thing if you are feeling alone. Cats are more independent. So if you don't want an animal all over you, pick cats.

I prefer cats I have no idea why but I like em better than dogs, the fact is I own 3 dogs and one cat. Oh well!

Cats...just make sure your not allergic! Lol! Dogs can get annoying...they follow you around EVERYWHERE!!! (But I guess some people like that?) Cats are more independent. And they don't attack people.

Cats, all the way... They match my personality (I'm a mellow couch potato who loves independence and peace and quiet), whereas dogs are a complete opposite (active, needy, eager-to-please attention-mongers).
