i have a 1989 bonneville se and when i was out last week at i was a stop light and went to take off n the motor cut off i still had power n all. it did it again tonight when i was backing up cut right off again have power but the motor cut right off. i have a new battery new trannsshmon and a new altner any one know wuts wrong.

It sounds like your car is having trouble controlling idle speed. I'm assuming it starts right back up again? This can often be resolved by cleaning the throttle body and idle air control port. You remove the air duct from the throttle body, and clean the throttle blade and throttle bore with carb cleaner and a small brush. Be sure to spray the idle air port to remove the carbon from the idle air controller plunger. It takes about ten minutes.

Check the cables to the alternator. Once the car cuts off the power you see may just be the battery at that point. If you don't fix the problem soon you may need another battery.

on your transmission under the hood look for a bright blue plug this is the lockout selonoid for your torque converter un plug it and see how it does if it worhs just leave it alone this sensor costs about 500 bucks all you will lose is alittle gas milage
