I had an aunt, you know, one of those aunties that everyone should have the experience of having....and she hated turkey. Griped and complained and cussed every single year. She was a funny cusser, God bless her.
I think it's about the traditions and we all know that the pilgrims and indians probably ate loads of turkeys, thus, that is where that tradition came from. Could have been buffulo for all we know. : (
My point is, it's the intimacy of being together w/those you love and have bonds with....they're important. It's a time when (without even actually saying it), you are participating in an event that states that you love all the people there, that life is or can be grand and we should appreciate our blessings, or try to become more aware of them.
The older I get, the more I have learned to appreciate the thousands and thousands of blessings I have and have had, but never gave it much thought. What a brat I was.
Another neat thought about traditional dinners, etc., is that you get to relive them in your memories when you're older, if you're so lucky to live to be "older." And one more thought, like other things in life, the more you do it, the more you want to do it. Like working out...you get in shape and also get that "runners high." Good chemicals throughout your brain.....or,.like doing a good deed - you do something kind for someone and you feel good about yourself and you want that warm fuzzy feeling all the time. Everyone, everywhere is searching for one thing in life....
internal peace. If we have that, we would never want to drink, do drugs, seek revenge, act nasty, or talk nasty to another. It's all internal. And the better person you are.....guess what - the more blessings that come your way. I promise.
I kind of got out in left field there, but the bottom line is, enjoy those you love, don't eat anything you hate (you might be allergic to it and that's why you don't like it), and enjoy what you have and love every minute of every day. : ]
Oh, by the way - some people have roast. Let's just be thankful that it isn't buffulo. Can you imagine the dinner table? And what in the world would we serve with that? So eat what you love - eat
Whatever you want....it's your life. : ]

Yes, I really enjoy turkey! It's not something I fix very often, so that makes it a bit of a novelty, and makes the day more special, I suppose. I certainly equate it with pleasant memories, and that's the best reason of all to have it.

confident, some cases. we've had Ham, Venison, Cornish Hens packed with long grain & Wild rice and top Rib. often it relatively is turkey, yet as quickly as in awhile it relatively is relaxing to do something diverse. satisfied Thanksgiving all human beings!

I love turkey. I'd rather have the fresh carved version over the processed lunch meat version from the grocery deli depts anyday.
