on pokemon ruby i am having a hard time catching rayquaza. help?

even if he has 1 hp, he's quite hard to catch if he doesn't have a condition

but that will trigger him to rest/recover

for this reason, i used a non ice type pokemon with the move ice beam - and it was strong enough to do a tiny bit less than half the hp rayquaza has.

first ice beam - frozen, and almost half hp.
second ice beam - still frozen and almost no hp

first ultra ball - nothing
second ultra ball - caught

well first of all, don't use ice pokemon, they rule against rayquaza, i use my starter, which happens to be a blaziken, to skyuppercut him which was ineffective and he use hyper beam to blow me away, then i use dusclops to hynosis(what ever the spelling is ) to make him sleep, then , i keep throwing ultra balls at him,as time pass and more rounds after each other, i finally caught him with a timer ball

ok firs get there. u know how right? before u do, get lots of ultra balls. SAVE THE GAME NOW!!!!! you need to get it down to red hp then use lots of ultra balls. if u dont catch it, turn off, then on again. u will still be there. try again. this might take a while, but it works!
