The average NFL quarterback about 70 yards. Those with great arms like Favre, Manning, and Culpepper, about 80 yards. All in a dome stadium of course, because an open stadium you have the wind that will play a factor. Yet accuracy is far more important. It's take receivers up to eight to ten seconds to get to 80 yards with all the pushing and shoving at the line of scrimmage and the first 10 yards.

When they have those off-season quarterback competitions on TV, the strong-armed quarterbacks seem to top out at about 70-72 yards. I've heard anecdotes of QB's throwing 80+ yards, but I think those are exaggerations. I've certainly never seen a throw in game- time more than 70 yards, and you seldom see even a Hail Mary attempt more than about 60.
I would bet the *average* NFL QB can chuck it about 60 yards.

I saw the quarter back competition last off-season and if i remember correctly Leftwich won the distance part with like 75 or 77 yards.
