They have to pay 7% more of taxes (sales tax) in everything they buy. I don't know why you people complain when the salaries of puertoricans are still less than yours. A professional in the U.S earns twice than what a person of the same profession earns in Puerto Rico, and it isn't fair because they have the same prepation educationally.

I think that because Puerto Rico is still a US "territory" and not an actual state of the union, the Federal Govt. may have different reasoning as to why they would charge more. Are you sure that an excess import/export tax could have been factored in?

I'm not going to choose sides but feel no one should be penalized for their culture. Puerto Rico does have its inner beauty. I have been there and would go back for vacation.

I'm going to dig further for an objective explanation for you.

GNP= Gross National Product

You are assuming that we knew this piece of information. Well, here's a newsflash: we didn't. You seem to think that all Americans sit and try to think of ways to pick on you. Not so. We barely even think of you. I'm not saying that to be mean, it's just that there are so many more important things in the world to worry about. I did not know that Puerto Rico had that problem, but we are taxed out our behinds, so just suck it up and pay it like the rest of us.

Please don't refer to Americans as idiots, that is a bit naive to call an entire nation as such or to base any of your opinions to the whole of the country. I as a person living in the US, I pay my taxes and expect that any other person in the US or its territories to pay their fair share, even if it is unfair. What taxes Puerto Ricans pay has nothing to do with me, I earn what little I can and pay a lot of property taxes to the state. You are complaining about paying taxes just as many Americans in general complain about paying taxes or any other country on the planet that charges their citizens out the butt for everything. No one wants to pay taxes in general, but what can you do? Nothing in life is free, and nothing in this world is free.

Is it fair that a criminal can become a rock star and make millions while still commiting petty crimes and profitting off the negative exposure in the media by people who keep buying their records and our teachers and schools are vastly underfunded?

Grow up. And based on your spelling, even of your own country and citizens, you aren't a professional and should have no concerns to the pay grade of others.

You don't even know what GNP is so how do you know the US is responsible for your sales tax rate. That is a state mandated number and the "Americans" have nothing to do with that. You're an idiot.

Lol!
I don't think that's going to make that much difference. What is the GNP (Gross National Product (How much money your country makes in a year)) of Puerto Rico anyway? Like a million dollars?

Sure a lot of anger here. Getting angry at one another will not reduce the tax. Try directing that anger at the politicians.
