I can sympathise with you on this one, a few years ago i went through the same thing but didnt realise i was doing it at the time, it scared me out of my wits. It turned out it was all stress related, do you have any stress at the moment? I also would get up and eat things eg. chocolate (which i am not normally keen on) once i sorted out the stress issues it did stop and having cut down considerably on smoking, trying to give up, it doesnt seem to be an issue anymore. failing that i suggest you put them in the garden near the back in a lunchbox and then its up to you if you really want to go out in the cold in the middle of the night. Good luck

I find the best way to do it is > Always leave them downstairs in the most inconvienient place possible> Remove all ashtrays from the bedroom> Keep a pack of biscuits or mints on the bedside table.

If the craving is too hard to resist why not try using a nicotine replacement gum instead. You'll get the nicotine remember to remove it before you fall asleep!

The first works for me and the gum is what my niece uses!
If possible try and give up.
I know that sounds daft coming from a smoker but if your young enough it could make a big difference to your health.
I've been smoking 40 years and even giving up wont help me now!! I know the damage has already been done!!!

As a long time smoker, I have never had this problem...However, I leave my Cigs in the car that is locked up at night so I don't have the urge to smoke.
If I truly need a cig in the middle of the night, I would have to put proper cloths on, find my keys, go out side, unlock my car, get my cigs. By this point I am fully awake enough to smoke all or half of the cig before extinguishing it properly.
I don't smoke in my home b/c my children and this has really helped me.
Good luck and please be careful!

Put them far enough from your bed to make you think about them, such as in a pocket of a jacket, a drawer in the kitchen, inside a sleeper left in the front room etc... As long as you can keep changing the place of hiding, you should be OK!
If you smoke after this, then you would be conscious to smoke and therefore responsible for your actions.

Don't keep the ashtray next to your bed.
Make yourself a rule to never smoke in the bedroom.
If you wake up with the urge to smoke, then you will have to walk to the living room for your cigarettes. Please sit up and smoke in a sitting position. Get one of those ash tray that are used in cars. If you place the cigarette there, it will extinguish by itself if you should happen to fall asleep. Also use a protective wooden box under the ash tray so if it falls, it will not fall on your furniture.

Bless your heart. I hope you can knock the habit. No smoking in the bathroom or bedroom.
That helped me.

Well if you go ahead and douse your bed with gasoline before you go to bed then chances are, that after the next time you do your little night-time smoking routine your problem will be solved and you'll never do it again!

Well I think it's time to think about not smoking at all. I think that you may suffer in quiting the habit, but at least you will be alive to feel the hurt, because if you continue to have cigarettes and matches in the house, you will eventually burn you and the house and anybody else in it . Really... it's not worth it...

don't take your cigarettes in the bedroom, put them as far away as the bedroom as possible, say downstairs so if you do want a ciggy, you'll probably wake yourself up properly trying to find them.
i don't smoke in the house, i have to stand outside, so late at night i don't smoke as its too cold to go outside. move anything to do with ciggys out of the bedroom it sounds like you could do serious damage soon!
