A friend of mine wanted me to look this up since she doesn't have a computer. Does anyone know the name of this movie with the information below? It's a movie about a young girl in an abusive family. Her father whoops her. There is also a scene where she is molested in the car by her father. There is another scene where some family finds out and starts to beet the father up. But that doesn't stop the father from doing what he does...does anyone know what I'm talking about? Thanks.

It's called "Bastard Out Of Carolina" with Jena Malone (Saved!) and Jennifer Jason-Leigh and it was directed by Angelica Houston. One of my absolute favorites and a great book.
The father is actually her stepfather. He gets the crap beaten out of him by the girl's (her name is Bone) uncles, after, an aunt finds welts all over her thighs (from continous beatings). It's a really a raw and realistic movie to watch. Angelica Houston took great measures to keep the scenes safe for Jena Malone.
