We are already set up to VIP the weekend away. I hope sitting behind the ropes gives him an advantage

Many casinos have dance clubs and bars. I like the Rum Jungle at Mandalay Bay and the Ghostbar at the Palms. Keep in mind that your age and your style (suit, jeans, etc.) may play a part in where you'd have the most luck. If you're trying to make an impression, don't stand in line, get a VIP pass.
